| Michael Showalter was born in Princeton, NJ on June 17, 1970. Mike graduated from Brown University and made friends at NYU with the crew who formed NY-based comedy troupe, The State, in October 1988. Most notably, The State created, wrote, edited, produced, and starred in the much-loved MTV series "The State." According to the official State website, a State DVD collection is currently in the works. -the official state site- Showalter is one of the geniuses behind Wet Hot American Summer (2001). Mike co-wrote and starred in the epic summer camp film, co-written and directed David Wain. Mike also co-wrote a stage play with State troupe members Wain and Lo Truglio Sex, a.k.a. He played supposed trouble maker Lionel Prichard in Signs. He also had a small role in Kissing Jessica Stein. Mike played Chip in Operation Midnight Climax. Up next: According to an interview with David Wain: "Mike Showalter and I wrote a movie called 'They Came Together' which is a spoof of NY Romantic Comedies that will hopefully be made by Universal." There are also several rumors circulating about a movie involving all members of "The State" Since 1997, Mike has been involved with STELLA, a live comedy club show. Stella recently toured the Northeastern US and sold a DVD of the shorts they make for their live show. If you can get a copy, it's worth checking out.
